In this article, we will show you how you can customize the structure of your advisor.
Adjusting the Structure
After you have created all questions, answers, and mappings, it's time to structure them.
The goal is to guide your customers to the perfect product in the shortest and smartest way possible.
Therefore, questions will only be displayed in the advisor if there are multiple answer options available. For instance, if only one answer is provided, the question will not appear. Similarly, answers will only be shown if there are still matching products with these attributes based on the previous selections.
By default, questions are displayed in the order they are listed in the admin portal. However, you can easily rearrange them using drag-and-drop. By clicking on the question or the three dots on the right side of each question, you can access the detailed view of the selected question, including its answers and mappings.
Options for Adjusting the Structure
There are several ways to tailor the structure to your needs:
Grouping Questions
In most cases, it is not necessary to set a fixed order for all questions. Instead, you can leave most of the ordering to the Neocom algorithm. You can easily achieve this by creating a group via Add new | Group and adding the desired questions using drag-and-drop.
Smart Ordering
When Smart Ordering is enabled, the Neocom algorithm controls the order of the questions within this group. If Smart Ordering is disabled, you can set the order of the questions within the group using drag-and-drop.
Here’s an example to illustrate the sequence of question display:
- Start the advisor with “First Question”
- Followed by the questions in “Group A” (with Smart Ordering enabled, so not necessarily in the displayed order)
- Continue with “Second Question”
- Finally, the questions in “Group B” (with Smart Ordering disabled, so in the displayed order)
Dependencies
With the Dependencies function, you can set dependencies. This means that a question or group will only be displayed if one of the specified conditions based on previous answers is met.
In the overview of all questions and groups, dependencies are marked by a blue symbol. Hovering over it will show the corresponding details, and the related question will be highlighted.
Activate / Deactivate
Questions or groups can be easily deactivated and reactivated. Deactivated questions are shown in gray. This can be helpful if you want to temporarily remove a question or group from the consultation. Once you want to include the question again, you can simply reactivate it, saving you the effort of creating it anew.
You can also control this function in the detailed view of the question via the Active/ Inactive Toggle.
Duplicate Questions
This function allows you to quickly and easily duplicate any question within your advisor.
To duplicate a question, click on the three dots to the right of the question. A small window with various options, including “Duplicate”, will open. Once you click Duplicate, you will be prompted to name the new question. After naming it, click the blue Duplicate-button to complete the process.
There are many reasons why you might want to duplicate a question, such as:
- Testing different image/text variations of the same question
- Adding another group with similar questions
- Creating variations to utilize Neocom's A/B testing feature
